Over the past few weeks, six Kingsdown students have represented Uganda at a mock climate conference, OxCOP, held in Oxford. The event gave students a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of world leaders and experience the challenges of international climate negotiations. In preparation for the conference, our students researched Uganda’s climate challenges and opportunities, exploring issues such as renewable energy, agriculture, and the impacts of climate change on developing nations. They delivered a powerful one-minute opening speech outlining Uganda’s priorities to the other delegations. Students then worked independently, collaborating and debating with peers from countries around the world to decide on the most crucial actions to advance towards 2030. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
We are immensely proud of how our Kingsdown students represented both Uganda and our school with such confidence, knowledge, and passion for making a difference.
