Young Carers

Young Carers

At Kingsdown School our mission is to champion our students who provide care for family members, ensuring they don’t just “get by” but truly flourish. We are dedicated to removing barriers to their success and celebrating the incredible skills they bring to our community.

A Young Carer is a child or young person whose life is affected because they are responsible for looking after someone at home.
This can include a parent, grandparent, sibling or other family member. The people they look after may have a physical or learning disability, long term illness, mental health illness or suffer with substance misuse problems.

Caring Tasks

The responsibilities Young Carers have might include:
- Personal care
- Housework
- Carrying shopping
- Giving medication
- Looking after siblings
- Emotional care
- Financial care

If you think your child may be a Young Carer then please contact the Young Carer Lead – Mrs Joachim.
