Ski Trip February 6th to 13th 2010
The ski trip this year is to the northern Italian resort of Pila located in the Aosta Valley, staying in the Hotel Panoramique.

Pila offers a number of ski runs suitable for beginners, intermediate and experienced skiers, some of which are visible via webcams.

Day 7
The last day on the slope! Today we get the gondola to the piste to start lessons early. It’s another great day for skiing with temperatures around -8 and the sun shining. The conditions have been perfect all week and have really helped the students to make progress quickly. The students have become quite attached to their ski instructors during the week and built very positive working relationships with them.

We head back to the hotel from the piste at around 4pm, wash and change into clothing for the journey home. We’ve been allocated only 9 rooms in the hotel for the whole group so some people will need to be faster in the shower than they have been all week. Dinner at 6pm and then in the coach ready for our epic coach journey at 7pm.

All in all, this has been one of the, if the not the best, ski trip that the school has run.

Day 6
Another great day’s skiing, the sun shone all day and the skiing progressed with some groups doing some small jumps with their instructors.

Tonight’s evening entertainment was the much anticipated fancy dress and awards presentation. Unfortunately, one of the instructors was unable to attend the presentation evening. All the students received certificates indicating how well they’d done during the week. The instructors were all very impressed with the progress of our students and commented on how well they had all done.

The fancy dress was something else! All the children looked fantastic . Only 1 day left skiing now.

Day 5
A very cold day today with temperatures at the top of the mountain around -10. Despite the cold, the sun shone and everyone is getting a tan like a panda.

2 groups are now skiing red runs with many of the children working on parallel turns. A quote from from Zoe, "1 week is a taster, 2 weeks is a holiday". I'm afraid none of them want to come home.

The hotel is looking after us very well and you'll be pleased to hear that everyone is getting plenty to eat.

We've been 10-pin bowling tonight with Emily and Steph getting the highest scores.

Fancy dress tomorrow night! Looking forward to it!

Everyone is safe and well.

Day 4
Everyone woke up still feeling full from their pizza extraviganza last night. A few sleepy heads this morning and 3 boys who were 10 minutes late for breakfast because they fell back to sleep after the wake up call.

The weather started this morning looking like it was going to be foggy and snowy. We woke to a dusting of snow in the valley, as we travelled up on the gondola, the fog and cloud broke and the sun burned through. The temperature on the mountain varied between -6 and 0 degrees.

It was another fantastic day's skiing with all groups using the chair lift and completing blue 15 successfully. The group who have skied before, moved on to red runs.

The beginner groups are beginning to learn parallel stops and should be parallel turning by the end of the week. Loads of happy people. All safe and well.

Disco night tonight!

Day 3
Colder today with cloud and a little snow. The 5 ski groups all made loads of progress. The advanced group skied red 12 this afternoon. 2 of the other groups moved away from the nursery slope and onto blue 15 which they used a chair lift to get to, the remaining 2 groups refining their skills on blue 20, they'll move on to blue 15 tomorrow. They're all full of smiles and enjoying every minute of the skiing.

Eat all you can pizza night tonight!

Everyone safe and well.

Day 2
Weather brill, snow deep, Mrs Winsbury very pleased with her new jacket, Mr Lawson blaming his skis for falling over twice. A few tumbles but all safe and well. Students had great day and all made loads of progress.

Day 1
Arrived early Sunday morning. Weather fantastic, lots of snow.
Journey was very easy but with very little sleep. Everybody safe and well, looking forward to a good day on the slopes tomorrow.
