Year 11 Leavers Ball 2008

It is the 16th May 2008 and early evening at the De Vere Hotel Swindon. There are lines of stretch limousines as far as the eye can see and rows of parents awaiting the arrival of their sons and daughters. As doors opened you could feel the ripples of excitement from the ever increasing crowd and the sound of cameras clicking. Gasps and cheers greeted the emergence of young women in ball gowns and tuxedo clad young men as they alighted from their limousines. A pause and smile for the enjoyment of the crowd. The red carpet beckoned. It promised to be a night to remember. The Year 11 Prom was here!

A flurry of colour cascades under the balloon archway. Guests receive a celebratory glass of punch as they enter the ballroom. Candle lit tables with balloons, champagne bottle bubble mix and glitter add to the atmosphere. Waiters’ hover by tables as starters are served, followed by a buffet and finally desert.

Proceedings are now in full swing. Sounds from the disco reverberate around the room as a sea of bodies move to the beat of the music. Party poppers explode as these fine young men and women celebrate the end of their school career together in a party they will always remember.

This was a night for Kingsdown School to be proud of their Year 11 students.

It was a hugely successful evening. The girls looked stunning and the boys were transformed into younger versions of James Bond. Guests at the Hotel commented on the conduct and presentation of the students. As the night drew to a close there were more than a few tears mingling with the laughter but all went away from the evening with their own memories and photographs.
