| Primary CAD/CAM Day 2008 |
|
On Thursday 10th July, the Design and Technology Faculty were joined by 32 Gifted and Talented year 5 and 6 students from the four main feeder primary schools. The students worked on our Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to design products and then had the opportunity to produce their designs using the schools Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) equipment. Our laser cutter was especially popular. The products made by the students working in resistant materials included key rings, pen stands and bedroom door name plates. Students working in textiles made a wall hanging which was made using materials that they had printed themselves and assembled using our computerized sewing machine. The day was a great success and was enjoyed by both staff and students. Particular thanks go to the year 9 helpers who showed us all what being a Kingsdown student is all about!
