Information and Communication Technology : Year 7
Students are taught in mixed ability groups. They broadly follow the Key Stage 3 ICT Framework, and in Year 7 the scheme of work covers the following areas: logging into our network, managing a user area, using e-mail, using our Virtual Learning Environment (Fronter) and e-safety; emailing; desk-top publishing; modelling using spreadsheets; using data and information sources; data handling; control and monitoring; and, multimedia – creating radio adverts. Students are encouraged to use their skills within other lessons and at home.

Information and Communication Technology : Year 8
Students are taught in ability groups. They broadly follow the Key Stage 3 ICT framework, and in Year 8 the scheme of work covers the following areas; searching the Internet; developing spreadsheet models; publishing on the Web; control technology; data handling and games design using Scratch.

Information and Communication Technology : Year 9
Students are taught in mixed ability groups. They broadly follow the Key Stage 3 ICT framework, and in Year 9 the scheme of work covers the following areas; multimedia; running a business; text and graphics; developing control systems; developing and using databases; games design using Mission Maker.


Information and Communication Technology: Year 10 and 11

Award In Digital Applications (AiDA). This course is compulsory for all pupils in Years 10 and 11, and results in a qualification equivalent to one GCSE. Students are taught in ability groups. During Year 10 students will work on a practise assignment and become familiar with the office application software they will need to use to complete a live project set by the exam board in Year 11. The AiDA course focuses on a set of key skills including: time management; resource creation; reviewing and refining created documents; creating an e-portfolio to present assessment evidence.

Certificate In Digital Applications (CiDA). This course is optional for all pupils in Years 10 and 11, and with the AIDA course results in a qualification equivalent to two GCSEs. The main content of the course is focused on the creation of digital multimedia products. Students are taught in mixed ability groups. By the end of Year 10, students will be familiar with the use of most graphics, animation, movie making and web creation software. They will use skills learnt on these applications to create a working solution to a multimedia focused problem set by the examination board.
